  1. I worked at the Almacs on RT.1 South Attleboro while in high school (Joe Dunn was the manager). It was a fun place to work. Good people. Met my first heart throb there and took her to my senior prom (at AHS). Almacs had just started to hire more and more part timers to cut down on benefits that they had to pay full time employees. But people were treated fairly and many local people were long term emplyees. Decent pay and benefits. People respected each other more than they do today. It was a more innocent time in our history. We had more respect for rules, police officers, teachers, and especially our parents. Also, more individual responsibility- much less government intrusion.

  4. After I got my driver's license, my dad abdicated his grocery store duties (mom didn't drive) and I had to drive my mom to Almacs in Garden City every Friday. Never liked grocery shopping and still don't, but fondly remember that Almacs and the Woolworth's next door.
