LONSDALE DRIVE-IN

LONSDALE DRIVE-IN, Lincoln, RI
This was a fun place to see double bills in the 70's.

Stayed open through the late 80's.

  1. Man did that place turn into a pond when it rained hard. The Rustic was an X rated drive in at the time, but us teens in northern Rhode Islander had plenty of options during the late 70`s early 80`s. The Quaker in Uxbridge, Milford Drive-in in Mendon, Bellingham, and Sutton as well were close by. And having to drive up Rt.146 in Mass, a 2 lane road at the time. You had to watch out for deer darting across the road, as well as drunk drivers veering into your lane!

    1. Befor it was a drive in it was all pasture and there was a dozen or so horses in the field, and a small group of us from the Cumberland side of Lonsdale would go there and ride the horses bare back, what a rush that was for a little kid, we also played Pop Warner base ball there close to the Bridge over the Blackstone River.

  3. We used to sneak in on foot and sit on the ground and watch at the Lonsdale. Saw Dirty Harry and the Green Beret. Hid in the trunk with older friends at the Rustic, but someone threw us out. There were 2 of us in the trunk and 2 paid, but we all got the boot. The movie wasn't a nice one, it was 1972.
