We were also married at Kings Inn, and the RI Supreme Court Justice married us and got indicted for unsure of and our photography went to Jail for embezzlement. Married 21 years maybe that place was good luck for couples unlucky for others
My mother had her retirement party there. I think that was in the mid-1980's. I remembered it as being a nice place with good food, atmosphere and service.
Hi, I remember this place!!! I lived in Lincoln my whole life, and remember the 2 white cars parked in front the Rolls and the Excalibur. The owners lived near me in Lincoln. I can’t remember their name. When did it close down ?
Henry was the head cook. Abby the owner. I worked there as a kid, dishwasher then buss boy. I lived near Abby and she used to drive me home after closing. She ran a tight ship!
I believe way back the King's Inn Restaurant was located on Mendon Rd in Cumberland - that building has changed hands many times. I believe its Godavari Indian Restaurant now. Please tell me someone else remembers this!?
Yes, before it was the kings in, it was johnny shadow restaurant then owned by two plumbing contractors John Grundy of Cumberland and Paul Conners of Lincoln…. I bussed tables there from 1965 to 1968…. Then waited tables from 1971-1973….. different owners then…. Two guys last names Marteka and Alare….then I left
I work there too at Johnny shadows when I was like 16 years old, I worked with a really nice guy named Mike he was deaf I wish I could track him down I think of him often. Yes Johnny shadows was my job
I was part of the construction crew that put a very large addition on the King's Inn, I believe it was for banquets and weddings. Part of the new construction enclosed an enormous rock that was adjacent to the building It was painted gold and near the cocktail lounge At that time Henry Luke was the boss He had a beautiful car collection. The one I recall best was a 1959 Cadillac convertible. and yes the place did have rats, But many restaurants have rat problems, due all to the food content going out in the trash...
The Kings Inn, where we had our reception, is gone and my priest quit and got married, but my husband and I are still married 20 years later, LOL!
