"My parents and my sister used to go their when I was about 6 or 7
and that was quite a while back. Their specialty was prime rib and
it was more of a dress up on Sunday to eat there.
You had to make reservations at the time."

The Red Coach was an offshoot of Howard Johnsons (which was next door) but it never really took off. Howard Johnson's also launched the Ground Round, the first of which was on North Main street in Providence in what is now Gregg's. Now only the Ground Round chain survives.

ReplyDeleteI was a dishwasher at the Red Coach Grill in Warwick. At the time I was employed there, it was very popular and extremely busy. Unlike most restaurants the line cooks had no cleaning responsibilities once the kitchen closed. We dishwashers had the enormous task of cleaning up after them. and boy that was one heck of a mess every night. .
