ATLANTIC MILLS, was located in Olneyville, Providence. Known by its twin striped towers, though crumbling, is still in use today as a space for retail, manufacturing, and studios.
My grandmother, some aunts, uncles lived in the West End (wouldn't go near there now!!!) and were always walking to the Mills. I can remember a dress she bought me - how I hated it !! Green isn't my color but this was that olive green with a small print. Couldn't wait to outgrow it and hand it down. Still can't wear green and there's little green in my house. What a dump!

ReplyDeleteDump? maybe. I prefer to think of her as having character. She's a grand old lady still fighting time to remain there.
