    1. I don't believe there was a Ladd's there. I think you're thinking of Midland Records, right across the hall from Orange Julius; I spent a lot of hours hanging out there!

  3. Ahhhh........Midland Mall. Remember when it first opened. It was a fabulous place to shop and I do believe Ladd's Music was one of the stores. Whenever I talk about the RI Mall I still refer to it as the Midland Mall.

  4. My dad purchased my first trumpet from Ladds when it was located on Park Ave in the same building area as the Park Theatre.

I also remember literally running to that same music store (after shoveling snow for several hours to make money) and buying the Meet The Beatles Album....running back home with my prize and blasting the record on my dad's stereo!

  7. Yes I remember Ladd's, next to the Park Theater. Bought my 1st Beatle Album there. Then later, it became Cranston Music. Buz Terry's Music Store was across Park Ave. next to Benny's. I took guitar lessons downstairs. I still see Mr. Ladd, around.

  11. If ANYONE knows Seymour Ladd (I think he's still with us at 89) please let me know. He used to have the 4 White Album photos on his checkout desk, and I'd always admire them. It was 1980, I was 9 and a huge Beatles fan. One day he slipped them in my bag with my purchase and said "they're yours"! I never forgot that. I'd love to thank him for that kindness!

  16. I am sorry to report that Mr. Ladd passed away in March of 2020. http://www.shalommemorialchapel.com/?p=4306 I bought a lot of music from the Garden City Store as a teenager in the mid 80s. A few years ago I was doing a presentation for my job at the Cranston Senior Center and there was someone in the audience that I could not quite place where I knew him from but I was sure I had met him before. After the presentation he and his wife came up to me to ask me some questions and during the conversation I remembered who he was. The guy from Ladds! We had a nice conversation talking about the stores he had. I told him I could remember the first records I purchased from his store in the Fall of 84 (We had just moved to Cranston from out of state) and how excited I was to discover there was a record store within walking distance of where we were living. By the way the records were Ray Parker JRs chartbusters and extended remixs of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean and Thriller

  18. Mr. Add brought joy to many people, especially kids! I was one of those kids that grew up in the Forest Hills section of Cranston. This will explain geographically, was north of Garden City, up Reservoir Ave to McDonald's on the left and the neighborhood went up to Nardillilo’s Funeral Home. (if I'm not precise with these boundaries, please correct me)
