METROPOLITAN THEATRE, The Met was at the corner of Chestnut Street
and Broad Street. It was the only theatre in Providence that had two box offices and
two marquees. The Met usually had a one hour stage show and one feature movie.
At various times the regular fare was shut down and Broadway Musicals come to
town as we now see at PPAC and these would run for 3 or four days. One night
concerts also were presented at times. The Met was run by Ralph E. Snyder
theatres of Boston. Their other RI theatres were the Victory, Empire, Bijou, Park,
Elmwood and the Palace.
