Man, I remember when this was The Place to go for wedding and shower receptions and anniversary parties. Can' tell you how many family gatherings I attended there and also at the 1025 Club on Plainfield Street.
The El Morroco is now the Johnston Senior Center. It still has the original art deco front but the entire rest of the building is new. I frequent their often and also do volunteer work there.

ReplyDeleteI am having such a hard time tracking down a photograph! :/
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember the El Morocco being advertised on WPRO by a disc jockey named Chuck Stevens. He'd yell out the name. It was on constantly!
ReplyDeleteWe had our La Salle Academy letterman’s banquet there in 71-72. Didn’t that become Lombardi’s that was originally on Charles St?
ReplyDeleteCan you please correct the spelling? Marocco. Always has been, always will be. Sincerely, a family member of the owners
