The Arcade


THE ARCADE
built in 1828, the nation’s oldest indoor shopping mall, located on
both Westminster and Weybosset Streets. Closed in December of 2008.
Known for it's 3
floors of retail stores.
Stores like Copasetic Jewelry, Asian Hut, Old Smoke Shoppe, The

Gamekeeper & More. The Food Court was located n the first floor,
with Johansson's Bakery,
Cafe La France,
The Providence Cookie Co. & More.

  1. There are still retail shops and food service locations on the 1st floor of the renovated Arcade. The two upper floors have been converted into micro apartments for city living. It's VERY expensive. A one bedroom and bath, 334 sq foot apartment is currently listed for sale at $215, 900. Yes, you read that correctly. Over $ Two Hundred Thousand for an apartment about the size of a two car garage !
