RKO ALBEE THEATRE, Was Located at 320 Westminster Street,
Downtown Providence. It Opened in 1919, and was well known for all its first
rate movies and other live performances. The large auditorium had two
balconies and ranges of side boxes at each level. There were 2,314 velvet-
upholstered seats, the largest theatre in the city! Opening night on
April 21, 1919 featured a series of vaudeville acts and other entertainments.
It fell on hard time and finally closed in 1970. The building was
demolished and in it's place is a parking lot.
