Famous For Great 35¢ Hamburgers. It Closed In The Late 70’s...
the Waitress’s Dressed Like Nurses and were dubbed the "Towerettes".
I remember seeing the abandoned building when I started college in Providence in 1980. It must have been a fun place.

ReplyDeleteThis was built on the site of my great great grandfather's house. Andrew Cooper and Sarah Cooper came here from England in the mid 1800's, built a house on this site, and raised a large family. After they died, the house was torn down and the White Tower was built. Wish I could have seen the way it looked a hundred years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe first one was in Pawtucket downtown on the river. Everyone want to call it white castle. If you went there you will remember the light blue waitress uniforms.
ReplyDeleteOpen at all hours during the night. Now this location is a parking lot. Providence is so innovative.
ReplyDeleteBest little hamburgers around at the time, lived within walking distance, I know. Do you remember Kelly’s Hamburger in Olneyville, another first fast food startup?
