Anyone remember Sherm Strickhauser advertising this place?
ReplyDeleteYes I do. My cousin Pat Hall was the chef and made him a great dish and struck up a friendship with him. He would come in and just say tell Pat to make me something and Pat would whip up a killer meal. Sherm then would talk up The Pub on his show the next day and thank his friend Pat.
DeleteYes I do Linda.
ReplyDeletePC games- all civic center events- trinity and ppac- and players all providence landmarks- how I miss the good ol' days- the Players softball team is still alive and kicking! winning state championships and playing allover the country
ReplyDeleteI remember going in there on Saturday mornings and seeing Joe Dorley and a bunch of his cronies inlcuding Jack Skeffington, Jackie Cronin, Oscar Shagian and many others hanging out and Jodi the owner serving them 'buffet style' extravagant lunches that he had prepared just for them. It was a great place to go and watch a game on Saturday afternoons!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember the name of the live band that played there every St. Patricks day at lunch?
ReplyDeleteWhat years was this establishment operated???
ReplyDeleteWhat year did it open ????
I worked next door (1976)at First Bank and Trust and saw lots of colorful Providence 'businessmen' dining at Players Corner Pub.We handled many of their accounts during the mob days. Wild times!
ReplyDeleteI was the sous chef there 1978 and 1979. I got the job because the previous sous chef was killed during a drug deal in the combat zone. I worked for Jodi Delramo, and Sonny Russo. The place was mobbed up. Every politician would hang out there.
ReplyDeleteAnyone remember after Bruins games and hanging with the players? Some good times
